Miniature Vibrating Fork Level Switch

The Miniature Vibrating Fork Level Switch is a compact and reliable device designed for precise detection of liquid levels in various industrial applications. Its small size and robust construction make it ideal for installation in tanks, containers, or pipelines where space is limited. The switch operates by utilizing a vibrating fork that resonates at a specific frequency; when the fork comes into contact with liquid, the vibration is damped, triggering a switching output.

Salient Features:

  • Compact and Lightweight Design: Facilitates easy installation in confined spaces.
  • Rugged Stainless Steel Housing: Ensures durability and longevity in various industrial environments.
  • Minimal Maintenance: The self-cleaning property of the vibrating fork reduces upkeep requirements.
  • Unaffected by Bubbles, Foam, or External Vibration: Provides accurate readings without interference from common process conditions.
  • Service-Friendly Plug Connection: Simplifies wiring and maintenance tasks.

Applications:

  • Flow/No-Flow Detection in Pipelines: Monitors the presence or absence of liquid flow.
  • Overfill Detection: Prevents spillage by signaling when tanks or containers reach maximum capacity.
  • Leak Detection: Identifies unintended liquid presence due to leaks.
  • High and Low-Level Alarms: Alerts operators to critical liquid levels.
  • Pump Dry Run Protection and Control: Prevents pump damage by ensuring they do not operate without sufficient liquid.

Construction & Operation:

The vibrating fork is attached to a housing containing a piezo crystal and sensing electronics. In air, the fork vibrates at the resonant frequency of the piezo crystal. When the fork comes into contact with liquid, the vibration is damped. This change is detected by the electronics, which then provide a PNP switching output. This output can be used to operate a relay or serve as an input to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
